Anchored on a knoll at Hood Park, Mountain Estate unfolds in stone, wood, and copper—integrating with the land to create a multigenerational retreat shaped by light, views, and mountain vernacular.
Set high on a knoll at the end of Hood Park Road, Mountain Estate is imagined as a true family retreat—ample in scale, yet carefully attuned to its surroundings. Designed for multiple generations to gather, the home integrates with the site’s natural contours, preserving mature trees and maintaining buffers that protect its mountain character.
The architecture grows from a solid stone and concrete base, its gabled roof cascading with the slope to anchor the home into the landscape. Two solar courtyards draw in southern light, while elongated living spaces open to northern views. Guest quarters are set apart on the western edge, reached by a heated path that creates privacy without excess massing.
Natural materials—stone, wood, patinaed copper, and plaster accents—reinforce the design’s timeless mountain vernacular, resilient against snow and weather while softening the home’s scale. The result is a residence that balances permanence with warmth, crafted as both sanctuary and gathering place for generations to come.
