Silver Cloud Lodge is an off-grid mountain retreat where timber craft, sustainability, and heritage converge to honor the historic Silver Crown mine and its alpine setting.
Silver Cloud Lodge reimagines the legacy of the old Silver Crown mine, transforming a historic site into a retreat rooted in mountain heritage. Designed as a timber-frame structure, the lodge honors the form and character of buildings that once stood here, blending traditional craft with contemporary needs. Guest rooms, gathering spaces, and companion structures—including a solar greenhouse, wood-fired sauna, and hydropower house—extend the lodge’s functions while remaining attuned to the rugged alpine landscape.
The adjacent mine is stabilized and integrated into the design, carrying forward its history as part of the new experience. Beyond the architecture, the project restores Mill Creek’s habitats, enhances wetlands, and creates new trails and climbing routes, weaving culture, recreation, and conservation into one setting. Off-grid and resilient, Silver Cloud Lodge stands as both retreat and restoration—an enduring link between the mountain’s past and its living future.
